Welcome to the 2024-25 school year!  We are busy getting everything ready for the students and we look forward to meeting them all very soon. I am pleased to say that we have an excellent staff once again, and I am sure your kids will have a great school year. Thanks to an increase in staff funding, we were able to return to a full time PE teacher, as well as a half-time Literacy Support teacher for students who need that support. Music will continue in a half time capacity for this year.

The South Oaks teaching staff for 2024-25 are as follows;

Kindergarten; Deniece Reimer, Lyndsey Wiebe

Grade 1; Bret Johnson, Glenys Robinson, Gwen Guenther

Grade 1/2 multiage; Jason Dyck

Grade 2; Caitlin Giesbrecht, Melanie Ciavaglia

Grade 3/4 multiage; Kayla Berg

Grade 3; Craig Froese, Alvera Peters

Grade 4; Lisa Johnson, Samuela Reimer, Bonnie Taylor

Phys. Ed; Ken Friesen and TBA

Music; Eileen Dueck

Learning Support; Jodi Davies and Jonelle Koop-Yumang

Counsellor; Joelle Heier

We also have an excellent team of Educational Assistants, office staff and a Librarian who your kids will get to know. Whatever class your child is in, they will experience a safe learning environment, characterized by kindness, high expectations and many opportunities to learn.

We work diligently to provide ample communication with parents throughout the year. Our office will send a monthly newsletter home with news for parents. At other times, we may send an email if something emerges, or if plans change throughout the month. Each teacher will also communicate with parents using See-Saw app/email/phone calls, as needed. Please know that you can speak or meet with your child’s teacher anytime you have a question or concern. Parents do not have to wait until Parent/Teacher meetings to connect with us. When the adults work collaboratively and communicate sufficiently, it is always good for kids. We endeavor to partner and collaborate with parents, to provide the best possible educational experience for your child.

I wish you all a smooth start to the school year. If there are bumps along the way, lets work together to find solutions! For now, let’s get going and see what we can accomplish together.
